PSV’s Interest in Zeno Debast Puts Anderlecht at Risk: Updates on the Transfer Window

Anderlecht’s transfer window is not over yet. Marco Kana has gone on loan to Kortrijk and a solution must be found for Kristian Arnstad. But it is above all from Eindhoven that the main danger might come. The target: Zeno Debast.

In early August, PSV technical director Earnest Stewart said he was in talks with Debast. “It has to lead to something, but we’re not there yet.” Brian Riemer had calmed things down by replying: “Debast is not for sale. Unless there is a crazy offer coming from Saudi Arabia.”

After PSV qualified for the Champions League groups (5-1 once morest Raskin and Dessers’ Rangers), the crazy offer might come from Eindhoven. “Within 48 hours, we have to transfer a central defender”, declared Peter Bosz, the coach of PSV, following the match. The transfer window in the Netherlands ends on September 1.

Could Anderlecht refuse an offer of 15 million? Debast feels good at Sporting – in recent weeks he has played without taking his foot off, as if nothing had happened – but PSV and the Champions League would automatically be a step forward. Replacing Debast within a few days would not be easy for Jesper Fredberg.
