The Court of the Criminal Chamber of Mbour had requested an expert opinion in the procedure against Saliou Ngom, 33, teacher of Life and Earth Sciences (Svt).

Accused of murder, Saliou Ngom was consulted several times by Professor Abdoulaye Danfa, psychiatrist at the Dalal Xel mental health center in Thiès. The doctor’s diagnosis saved the defendant. The medical report revealed that Saliou Ngom suffers from a psychiatric disorder likely to modify his mental faculties, his reasoning but also his discernment. Worse still, the extension of his detention in prison could aggravate these disorders. His condition requires regular and effective management in an aggregate structure for better stabilization which can allow possible socio-family or even professional reintegration.

Recall that the events took place in Koboran, a village in the municipality of Fissel Mbadane, in 2018. Amy Dieng, nine months pregnant, was found lying on a mattress in a pool of blood. She had just been slaughtered by her husband. Also, Svt’s teacher was unable to recall what had happened. “I was told what had happened! I have no recollection of the events. I’ve heard everything I know about this story. I asked people who came to see me what I was doing in prison,” he said. At the bar of the crime room, Svt’s teacher could not find the words to return to this horrible day.

The witnesses called to the bar called Saliou Ngom sincere, helpful, caring, reliable, respectful, studious. Amy and Saliou got married in 2013, while he was continuing his studies. He became a Svt teacher and it was in his second year of teaching that he was subjected to disorders until he committed the irreparable. “We never had a problem with Saliou. If I could, he would get away with it. We are not asking for compensation,” explains the victim’s brother. Abdoulaye Ngom, Saliou’s uncle, said that one day the accused threw himself into a well 15 meters deep.

What he was doing was a surprise to everyone. When he threw himself from the bottom of the well, it was I who saved him. 29 to 30 days, he committed this act,” said Abdoulaye Ngom. Saliou Ngom was rescued by expert psychiatrist Abdoulaye Danfa after six years in prison.
