Psychiatrists who treated Chyno Miranda are freed

The College of Physicians of the Metropolitan Area, in Caracas, had issued a document that reinforced the accreditation of citizens to practice psychiatry.

Those in charge of providing medical services in the Chyno Miranda case, who remained for a time in the Tía Panchita center, were released and received by their relatives.

In a post on social networks, it was reported that psychiatrists Lionel Sotillo and Victorio Domínguez and nursing assistants José Gabriel Chacón and José Javier Moreno had come out of confinement.

Tía Panchita’s medical staff had a substitute measure of freedom since last Friday. Now they must appear every 15 days before a court while the open case continues, according to what was announced.

The medical union and the defense lawyers of the Tía Panchita home, who were detained because they supposedly do not have that profession, denounced the damages committed once morest them.

Antonio Guerrero, one of the lawyers for Lionel José Sotillo Romero and Victorio Domínguez, brought before the corresponding instances the titles and other documents that accredit those indicated as health professionals and that have the endorsement of the College of Physicians of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas, the Venezuelan Medical Federation and the Venezuelan Society of Psychiatry

Last November, following the transfer of Chyno Miranda, from the Tía Panchita center to the El Cedral clinic, the prosecutor’s office alleged that they were false psychiatrists also “posing as Nursing Assistants: without having the corresponding courses or authorizations: with the negative consequences that this derives towards patients confined there”.
