PTPN Contributes 50 Increases in National Sugar Production

PTPN Group contributed 50% to the increase in national sugar production in 2024 compared to 2023. National sugar production until the end of sugar cane milling in 2024 reached 2.46 million tons. This figure has increased by 190 thousand tons or around 10% compared to 2023 which was recorded at 2.27 million tons.

The plantation BUMN succeeded in increasing sugar production by 13%, namely from 752 thousand tons in 2023 to 851 thousand tons this year. The increase of 100 thousand tons contributed significantly to achieving the national sugar increase.

“This is a positive achievement resulting from the hard work and strategic steps that the company has taken. This is in line with the government’s goal of realizing national sugar self-sufficiency,” said the Main Director of PTPN III Nusantara Perkebunan Holding, Mohammad Abdul Ghani, in his statement, Monday ( 11/11).

In terms of productivity, PTPN Group also recorded better results than the national average. National sugar productivity reached 4.73 tonnes per hectare (ha), while PTPN Group productivity reached 4.77 tonnes per ha.

This positive achievement cannot be separated from the PTPN Group business transformation program which not only has an impact on improving financial performance, but also on improving operational performance. This is in line with the spirit of PTPN Group in realizing Presidential Decree Number 40 of 2023 concerning the Acceleration of Sugar Self-Sufficiency
National and Provision of Bioethanol as biofuel (biofuel). (Z-2)
