Caracas.- The rumor is circulating on social networks that the government of Nicolás Maduro is evaluating installment and advance payment of bonuses of public administration employees, a measure with which payments to their accounts would begin in the month of October.
The team of the whistle asked some union leaders for their opinion on this approach, who considered that it is not a new measure since they already tried to do it with the payment of the vacation and recreational bonus of the workers university students and educators.
“It would be a bad precedent because just as there is a rumor that the year-end bonuses will be paid in October, also it is said that they will increase the salary in November. If you pay in October, you are cheating the law because they would pay that bonus three months before so as not to pay it with the increase,” explained José Gregorio Afonso, secretary of Academic Affairs of the Association of Professors of the Central University of Venezuela (Apucv). .
This situation occurs just as a high-level delegation from the International Labor Organization (OIT) plans to return to Venezuela to review the progress of the negotiations between the Government, employers and unions. This visit is one of the reasons why it is also believed that an alleged salary increase will be made.
José Patines, general secretary of the Union of Workers of the Chancelleryhighlighted to the whistle that, in fact, no authority has ruled on this, but warned that splitting this payment is disrespectful because with the amounts that Venezuelan employees intend to pay they cannot buy great things.
“The Government cannot continue making decisions against or deterioration of all Venezuelan workers,” said Patines, who stressed that if the payment is made in this way, the working class will not have money in December.
Even a report prepared by the firm specialized in economics and public policies, Síntesis Financiera, revealed that the Christmas bonuses for this year 2022 can be paid long before the month of December.
The president of the Union of Workers of the UCVEduardo Sánchez, stressed that this measure would only seek “save four puyas to the State by injuring the right of workers”.
According to the chains that circulate on social networks, payments would be made as follows: two months on Friday, October 14, then another two months on October 28in November they would announce the supposed salary increase and in December they would cancel the bonus for the hallacas.
“Now they intend to say that October, November and December are going to pay the Christmas bonus, to which we say that they are going to make a bad effort because we are going to react”said the leader Sánchez.
Those consulted agree that the payments of this bonus They usually take place in the months of November and December.
Finally, Afonso called for not “incurring in this practice because in the country there is money to cancel those increases It is not through the hunger and misery of the workers that they are going to reduce public spending and stop inflation.” In his opinion, they should reduce military spending and efficiently use the resources received by the Maduro administration.
