Theater director, plastic director, acting and stage movement teacher at Moscow theater universities Igor Afonchikov spoke about an interesting case that at one time helped the famous singer Alla Pugacheva to open up.
“Alla Borisovna Pugacheva, who was made by her husband Stefanovich, told me her interesting case. She was quite average and not a singer at all. She had the makings, but could not reveal herself. One day she went on stage to sing “Harlequin” in new shoes with 12-centimeter heels, an Austrian stiletto heel, which cost 120 rubles. It’s very expensive, the whole salary. During the performance, her heel got stuck in the crack, and throughout the song she tried to get the heel out. She felt very sorry for the shoes, but in the end she pulled out the heel with her hands, and people gave a standing ovation and shouted for another twenty minutes for her to come out for an encore! Why? Because her tragedy with the shoes coincided with the performance of the song. People felt Pugacheva’s emotions and feelings. After that, she realized what people want when she is on stage. This incident helped her to open up and become the artist she is now,” Afonchikov said in a conversation with Sport24 correspondent Boris Meshkov.
