Puma Withdraws Sponsorship from Israel National Football Team: Financial Reasons or Political Motives?

Tel Aviv: Puma, the leading German sports apparel manufacturer, has withdrawn from the sponsorship of Israel’s national football team. Sponsorship of Israel’s national team is ending at the end of this year. The company has decided not to sponsor the team’s kit from 2024 onwards.

There are rumors that Puma’s withdrawal is due to Israel’s attack on Palestine. But neither the company nor Israeli football officials have confirmed. PUMA’s position is that the decision has nothing to do with the Palestinian issue. PUMA officials have stated that the decision to withdraw was taken at the end of last year.

At the end of 2022, the Israel Football Association and Puma were in talks regarding sponsorship but might not reach an agreement on financial matters. Puma has been the apparel sponsor of the Israeli team since 2018.

Puma is terminating the contract citing financial reasons. With this, the sports kits and other things given to the Israeli team will be stopped. Puma has also terminated its contract with Serbia’s national team.
