Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on Sunday that Ukraine’s special services are the authors and responsible for the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, which left at least 3 dead.
“There are no doubts here. This is a terrorist attack aimed at destroying critical civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation. And the authors, materials and intellectuals are the Ukrainian special services,” the Russian president said during a meeting with the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin.
The official informed Putin that, by examining the place, the Committee had opened a case under the second part of article 205, “Terrorism”, and this is confirmed by the data of the initial phase of the investigation.
“Many witnesses have been interviewed and special expert investigations, including explosives, genetic and forensic examinations, have been launched and largely completed. Corresponding instructions were given to the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs to carry out operational and investigative activities,” he stated.
According to Bastrykin, the investigators have managed to identify the suspects, as well as the carriers who participated in the organization. In addition, the truck route has been established: Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia and the Krasnodar region.
“We continue the investigations to establish the purposes and objectives of this attack, which is undoubtedly terrorist in nature. It is an act of terrorism,” he declared, adding that some Russian and foreign citizens helped the Ukrainian special services to prepare the attack.
The explosion of the cargo vehicle took place at 06:07 (local time) and caused the fire of seven fuel tanks of a train that was heading to the Crimean peninsula.
