President Vladimir Putin believes that drone control courses should be integrated into educational programs, including in schools. He said this at a meeting on the development of unmanned aerial systems, held via videoconference.
As Mr. Putin explained, the proposal to start teaching on this topic in schools was voiced by several companies. Which ones, he did not specify. The President is convinced that such “early career guidance” will “benefit the country” and will also distract children “from what they shouldn’t be doing.”
“I fully support the proposals made by our companies so that children can learn to control, assemble and design drones from school. I am sure that, firstly, this will engage the guys in useful and interesting work, distract them from what they should not be doing; secondly, this so-called early career guidance will ultimately benefit the country, ”he says (quoted by TASS).
First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Belousov said that in order to attract young people to the field of modeling and using UAVs, it is planned to use the infrastructure of the public organization Voluntary Society for Assistance to the Army, Aviation and Navy of Russia (DOSAAF). According to him, the issue of implementing pilot projects on teaching UAV piloting in schools is also being worked out in a number of regions.
Mr. Putin at the meeting called the unmanned aviation industry “the most important area of the country’s activity.” He stated that its volume could reach 1 trillion rubles. As Kommersant found out, the government has formed a list of important areas of technological development of the Russian Federation until 2030. The final list includes projects focused on ensuring “technological sovereignty”, including in the drone industry.
