PV Sindhu bows out of Australian Open after quarterfinals defeat

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu crashed out of the finals of the Australian Open badminton tournament. The world number 12 lost to American Baiwen Zhang in straight sets in the women’s singles quarterfinals on Friday.

After a 39-minute fight, Sindhu surrendered with the score of 12-21, 17-21. The 33-year-old Chinese-American has faced 10 times in the past, while Jayam has sided with Sindhu six times. But this time luck did not favor Sindhu. Sindhu faced a tough fight from Zhang in the quarters.
