Pyramid – Beyond Borders Of Time
Origin:
Nurnberg, Germany
Release: 22.03.2024
Label: Subsound Records
Duration: 39:34
Genre: Instrumental Psychedelic / Stoner Rock

What’s in the name? Pyramid probably closer than blazing hot desert rock? Even though the trio comes from comparatively cool Nuremberg, the shimmering heat and grainy patina of a day in the desert sun are conveyed on their second album Beyond Borders of Time quite good, which is illustrated quite appropriately with the cover artwork.

The album begins with bone-dry drum beats The Medicine Man, which also has an inherent calm that runs through the entire album. Fortunately, the whole sound is very colorful and varied and is dreamy at times, but fortunately not throughout.

The guitars fuzz properly through the speakers. Beyond Borders of Time klingt definitely like a long trip, but never becomes irrelevant or loses its line. Rather, the three musicians act precisely along the numerous figures. Fainting enters the borderline of doom with its gut-deep bass lines and majestic demeanor.

Also in Solar Flare The powerful bass sound takes on at least an equal role alongside the often almost singing guitar, like HERE can be heard. In crypt the controls of all instruments involved are turned to the limit.

A multi-layered psychedelic record

The production is excellent, finding exactly the right balance between a crisp progressive rock sound and slow, unreal stoner rock.

The listener never misses any singing on this album. This means the musicians can fully concentrate on the instrumental expressiveness that is available here at all times. Beyond Borders Of Time is not a minute too long or too short. Friends of psychedelic stoner combos like Color Haze, King Buffalo or Elder find on Pyramids Second album is sure to be a joy.

Set in the richly populated subgenre of Psych Stoner Pyramid have their own accents and set themselves apart from other bands in the genre with their multi-layered timbres and differentiated production.

Conclusion
A well-conceived second work is Pyramid succeeded. It skilfully balances many genre clichés and impresses with its complexity. Therefore can Beyond Borders Of Time are unreservedly recommended. 9 / 10
