Doha: Qatar Airways has announced a stopover package for international passengers arriving at the Horticultural Expo 2023 starting on October 2 in Doha. Airways is the official strategic partner of the Expo. The stopover packages have been announced with an aim to provide an opportunity for transit passengers to enjoy the spectacle of the Qatar-hosted Horticultural Expo.
Qatar Airways will fly with Expo logo from next month. International travelers booking through Discover Qatar will receive a complimentary entry voucher to see the Expo on all stopover packages. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said the coming months offer an array of cultural, environmental and innovative experiences in Qatar for visitors from around the world. He said that he welcomes international guests to Qatar and offers them signature hospitality.
Doha Expo 2023 is the first international event to be hosted by Qatar after the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup. The final stage of the construction work of the Expo venue is currently underway in Qatar. The expo was scheduled to run from October 2 to March 28, 2024. But the authorities have informed that the general public will be allowed to enter to see the sights of the venue by the middle of next month. About 30 lakh visitors from different parts of the world are expected at the Expo. This is the first time that a Gulf country is hosting an international horticultural expo where agriculture, greening and environmental protection are the basis.
More than 30 lakh visitors from more than 70 countries are expected. Themed ‘Green Desert, Better Environment’, the expo will feature pavilions of various countries as well as entertainment and knowledge programmes. The Expo Center is also a platform to enjoy the flavors of the world. Food stalls from different countries like India, Filipino, Korean, Thai, Turkish etc. will be lined up in the fair along with Arabian Ruchi Peruma.
Discussions and debates will be held on various topics like environmental education, sustainability and climate change. A special bus service will also be started from next month to the Expo city. Organizers noted that Expo 2023 is an opportunity to demonstrate Qatar’s commitment to supporting developed countries affected by the consequences of climate change.
