Qatar Energy acquires 40% of the exploration stake off the Mauritanian coast


Qatar Energy said that it had signed an agreement with Shell to acquire a 40% stake in the C10 offshore exploration block located off the coast of Mauritania on the Atlantic Ocean.

The Qatari company stated that Shell, the “operator”, would retain a 50% stake, and the Mauritanian Oil Company 10%.

The area of ​​the exploration area is regarding 11,500 square kilometers, and it is regarding 50 kilometers off the coast of Mauritania, in waters with depths of up to 2,000 meters.
