Qatar Energy said that it had signed an agreement with Shell to acquire a 40% stake in the C10 offshore exploration block located off the coast of Mauritania on the Atlantic Ocean.
The Qatari company stated that Shell, the “operator”, would retain a 50% stake, and the Mauritanian Oil Company 10%.
The area of the exploration area is about 11,500 square kilometers, and it is about 50 kilometers off the coast of Mauritania, in waters with depths of up to 2,000 meters.
