Qatar Energy has awarded Tecnicas Reunidas an additional engineering, procurement and construction contract for the North South Gas Field Expansion Project, worth $560 million, equivalent to regarding two billion Qatari riyals.

The Spanish company’s scope of work includes the construction of pipelines for LNG facilities, with commissioning of LNG storage tanks, an LNG loading dock, and gas compressors.

It is noteworthy that Tecnicas Reunidas won in 2021 a major contract for engineering, supply and construction in the North Field Expansion Project, as it carries out engineering and construction works to expand storage and loading facilities for liquid products from condensate, propane and butane, and expand monoethylene glycol import facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City.

Qatar aims to increase its production of liquefied natural gas by 64% to 126 million tons by the end of 2027, following the completion of the two expansion phases of the North Gas Field (the largest single gas field in the world).
