Qatar National Museum: Celebrating 50 Years in Collaboration with UNESCO

Doha: The Golden Jubilee of the Qatar National Museum will be celebrated in collaboration with UNESCO. A wide range of celebrations will be held in Qatar and at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris.

The National Museum was established in 1975 as the custodian of the history and heritage of Qatar and the region. Renovated with innovative ideas and innovative projects at every stage, the National Museum is now internationally renowned.

This year marks the milestone of the Qatar National Museum at the international level as part of the tradition of celebrating the 100th and 50th anniversaries of museums in member countries under UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The new museum building, designed by Pulitzer Prize-winning and world-renowned architect Jean Newell on the model of the desert rose familiar to Arabian lands, will be inaugurated in March 2019. Today the museum is a rare vault of regarding eight thousand objects including rare collections from different parts of the world. The celebrations will be held in 2024-2025.
