Qatar remembers the year 859 in response to the “state of frenzy” after Messi wore the “bisht” at the coronation of the 2022 World Cup

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Lulwa Al-Khater, Assistant Foreign Minister of Qatar, commented on what she described as a “state of frenzy” that affected many after Messi wore the Arab “bisht” at the coronation ceremony after Argentina won the World Cup hosted by Qatar 2022.

This came in Al-Khater’s tweet on her official Twitter page, in which she said: “A state of frenzy has gripped many European media professionals as they practice their arrogant complex on world cultures after the Arab ‘bisht’ was removed from Messi in honor of…”

And she continued, saying: “The irony is that the Europeans themselves practice this ritual in all graduation ceremonies, and it is an Arab tradition that began at the University of Al-Qarawiyyin, which was founded by Fatima Al-Fihri in 859.”

In her tweet, which was re-published, the Qatari official, Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Director General of the Qatar News Agency, reviewed a video clip showing a number of comments and criticisms that were circulated about Messi’s wearing of the “bisht”.
