Qatar: the Cup half full

Qatar is certainly not a model, everyone agrees. Whether in terms of human rights or social rights, to say that the emirate has progress to make is an understatement. However, does this justify the need to give in to calls for a boycott of the football World Cup that it is organising, event that should be followed with passion by nearly 4 billion people? At the very least, the question deserves to be asked. In the criticisms emanating from those who consider that football represents only a waste of time enriching people whose only talent is to know how to kick a ball, there is, admittedly, an element of excess.
