Quebec: Ranking Third for Low Cost of Living in Canada

Quebec ranks third among provinces where the cost of living remains the lowest in Canada, according to a recent study conducted by Westland Insurance.

Insurance experts compared different daily living expenses such as real estate costs, rent, bills, food, transportation, and health and personal care.

Quebecers are therefore doing much better than their neighbors in Ontario or British Columbia, which are the two provinces where living is the most expensive.

In fact, Quebec has the lowest costs in the country when it comes to spending on pets, Internet access, gasoline, public transportation and air travel.

Affordability of property is also slightly lower in La Belle Province than the national average since the median salary only covers 8.58% of the median house price, compared to 10% in Canada.

Conversely, health and personal care expenses are much higher in Quebec. Rent, utility bills, alcohol and household appliances are also among the most expensive expenses for Quebecers.

In comparison, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island are respectively in 1st and 2nd place among provinces where citizens have to spend less money to live.
