Québec solidaire’s Decision to Stand Against META and Its Impact on Democracy: Insights from Michel Leblanc

Québec solidaire announced that it was not going to boycott META despite the pressure that the international organization exerts on all media companies in Canada. It was a decision that startled Michel Leblanc.

At the microphone of Mario Dumont, via QUB radio, the president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal quite simply attacked the political party.

“There are interests that are greater than your party interest,” he said.

By refusing to boycott META, Québec solidaire sends the wrong message, according to him. Moreover, the CCMM had called on companies to no longer use social media. This time, Mr. Leblanc goes even further.

“It is time for citizens to send the message that democracy is important,” he said.

To this end, he calls on all citizens to boycott META on September 15. Mr. Leblanc believes that this is the perfect date to send a message of unity to the company. It must be said that September 15 will be Democracy Day.

But, as a representative of Montreal’s business community, does he believe that the crisis will resolve?

“I am sure there will be an agreement,” he said.

But the big question is when? According to Michel Leblanc, disinformation is an element that greatly harms businesses.
