Queen Elizabeth feared his death in Scotland would make proceedings “difficult”.

The monarch passed away at her beloved Balmoral estate on September 8, 2022, after extending her annual summer vacation, but her family had to persuade her to stay where she felt happiest instead than worry about his funeral.

In the BBC One documentary “Charles III: The Coronation Year”, which will be broadcast on Boxing Day in the UK, his daughter Princess Anne said: “We We always loved being at Balmoral. We spent a lot of time there in our youth and it was probably a more independent life than anywhere else. I think at one point she felt it would be more “It’s hard to die at Balmoral. We tried to persuade her that it shouldn’t be part of the decision-making process. I hope she came to think it was the right thing to do.”

The princess, who was the only other member of the royal family at Balmoral when it became clear the Queen was entering her final hours, also spoke of the feeling of “relief” she felt at her mother’s funeral .

Of the moment the Crown Jeweler removed the crown, orb and scepter from the Queen’s coffin during the ceremony at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, Anne said: “When he removed the crown from the Queen’s coffin, the Crown Jeweler removes it: “When he removed the crown from the coffin, I strangely felt a sense of relief. In a way, it’s over. This responsibility has been transferred.”

The princess also praised her brother, King Charles, for how easily he has adapted to his new role.

She said: “To be honest, I’m not sure you can really prepare for that kind of change, at least not easily. And then the change happens and you’re like, ‘OK, now we have to let me get started.”
