Madrid’s Magnetic Terrace Returns: Summer Cinema and Concerts Under the Stars

Madrid is set to ignite this summer with the return of the highly anticipated Magnetic Terrace. From July 4 to august 2, 2025, experience a vibrant blend of outdoor cinema and captivating concerts at iconic venues like La Casa Encendida and Casa Cristóbal. This year’s theme, “On the other Side of the Eye,” promises a diverse program that celebrates film and music under the Madrid sky.

Outdoor Cinema: A Diverse Selection

Every Friday, from July 4 to August 2, La Casa Encendida will transform into an open-air cinema, showcasing five unique films at 10:30 PM. Tickets are priced at just 4 euros per entry.

The film lineup includes:

  • A tribute to David Lynch with Lost Road
  • Laurie Anderson’s experimental video, Heart of a Dog
  • Akira Kurosawa’s personal masterpiece, Akira kurosawa’s Dreams
  • René Laloux’s Cannes Special Jury Prize winner, The Wild Planet
  • Sally Potter’s queer and feminist classic, Orlando

Summer Concerts: Music from the Madrid Sky

Saturdays will feature an eclectic mix of musical performances at La Casa Encendida, starting at 9 PM. Tickets are 10 euros, with a reduced rate of 5 euros for children under 30, seniors over 65, and unemployed individuals.

The concert series includes:

  • ancient Pleasure: A Barcelona-based collective known for live improvisation.
  • Lauren Duffus: Fusing experimental electronics with raw emotion.
  • Otay: Onii: Featuring tail piano and a blend of eastern tradition, noise, classical, and metal.
  • Concepción Huerta and Gibrana Cervantes: Showcasing extended violin, magnetic, and electronic tape performances.
  • Dads Have A Lamb: A queer artist merging sound, performance art, and politics.

Free Animated Films at Casa Cristóbal

For the first time,the Magnetic Terrace extends its reach beyond the city center. Casa Cristóbal in Villaverde will offer free screenings of two animated films at 10 PM:

  • Chihiro’s Trip by Miyazaki
  • Flow by gints Zilbalodis
