Quito urged the National COE to evaluate face-to-face return to classes

The Municipality of Quito urged the National Emergency Operations Committee (COE) to evaluate whether or not the return to classes is appropriate, in accordance with the epidemiological indicators of the capital of January. The face-to-face return to classes with 100% capacity is scheduled for next February 7.

Likewise, the Municipality urged that training be given to parents and teachers of educational institutions about biosecurity measures, vaccines and new variants of the virus.

The Metropolitan COE decided to maintain the level of orange epidemiological alert in Quito, which allows the Capital Municipality to take the necessary restriction and biosafety measures to take care of the health of the inhabitants.

Given the epidemiological situation, the Capital Municipality welcomed the 50% reduction in face-to-face work and 50% telework, proposed by the National COE.

To comply with this measure, the internal organization of each institution will be considered, in order not to affect the provision of municipal services.

Essential strategic institutions and dependencies are exempted from this provision so as not to interrupt the provision of basic services and security to citizens. Especially institutions such as Emaseo, Rastro, AMT, AMC, Quito Fire Department, San José Board of Trustees, Metropolitan Control Agents Corps (CACM), which carry out activities in the field, territory, control, health, education and protection.

Another request that will be made to the COE is to release the third dose for adults over 50 who have turned three months after the second dose. The Capital Municipality will coordinate social support to guarantee the isolation and quarantine of cases and contacts of the vulnerable population.

Finally, the National COE will be urged to issue a rapid control document or circulation passport that contains the information on the vaccination scheme in digital format, with a QR code, to facilitate its review.

The next meeting of the Metropolitan Emergency Operations Committee will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
