Quiz: do you know how much electricity your everyday objects use?

In winter at the latest, there can be a shortage of electricity in Switzerland. In other words, saving electricity is the order of the day. According to the EWZ, an average Swiss household that gets its hot water from an electric boiler needs around 6,700 kWh of electricity a year. Almost two thirds of the electricity consumption is due to the hot water supply with an electric boiler.

If you heat your hot water with gas, oil, wood or district heating instead, the average annual consumption drops to 2700 kWh. The Umwelt Arena calculated the power consumption of the most everyday devices and activities for 20 minutes.
