Vinicius was the victim of racial abuse during a match against Valencia in La Liga. Throughout the match, the fans in the gallery in a section of Valencia’s Mestalla stadium continued to abuse the player by calling him a monkey.
Vinicius complained to the referee in the 73rd minute of the match when the abuse became unbearable. When Vinicius pointed out the man who had abused him in the gallery, the entire audience turned towards Vinicius. Due to this, the match was stopped for 10 minutes. The match resumed after the fans chanted in the stadium not to insult the players and not throw any objects on the field.
But during the injury time, Vinicius got a red card and got out after a scuffle with Valencia star Hugo Duro.
Vinicius responded on social media after the match. Vinicius noted that this is not the first incident and racism is common in La Liga.
