Electric car users face some problems that have become obstacles to using this type of vehicle, including slow battery charging, which may require more than an hour at times. But students at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands have developed a battery that recharges in less than four minutes.

Yesterday, students of the Dutch University of Technology Eindhoven (TU Eindhoven) presented a new electric racing car they called the “Racing Monster”, equipped with a battery that is fully recharged in just 3 minutes and 56 seconds.

This short time is a record compared to the current charging time, and they achieved this by developing a cooling system for the battery. With fast charging, the quality of the battery becomes very hot, so they devised a way to cool each cell in the battery pack, so that charging takes place faster.

Users of electric cars face some problems that have become obstacles to the use of this type of vehicle, including what is known as “range anxiety”, which means the fear that the electric car does not have enough energy to reach its destination, and thus strands the passengers of the car as a result of its inability to work. long distances, as it needs continuous charging.

A new technology has been devised to solve this problem, by developing an advanced cooling system that flows between the battery cells. In addition to the fast charging feature, this design reduces the time the battery is exposed to a high temperature during the charging process, thus providing it with a long-term life cycle.

This new technology will be tested for its effectiveness next year, and the students hope that the car will participate in the French race (24 Hours of Le Mans) to test the effectiveness of the battery in the most difficult conditions possible.
