Raducanu Retires: Qatar Exit After Health Check 🎾

Raducanu Retires in Doha After Medical Timeout

Emma Raducanu retired during her first-round match against Camila Osorio at the Qatar Open. Raducanu attempted to continue playing after receiving medical attention, but ultimately conceded the match in the third set.

Raducanu had won the first set 6-2, but Osorio responded to accept the second set 6-4, leveling the match. Early in the deciding set, Raducanu called for the physio and, after a medical timeout, was broken again and subsequently retired.

The British No. 1 was seeking a positive result after a recent loss to Sorana Cirstea in the final of the Transylvania Open. This match followed Raducanu’s split with coach Francisco Roig after her second-round exit at the Australian Open. Osorio, ranked No. 80, recently won a WTA Challenger event in Manila.
