For the initiative of Stefanos Kasselakis regarding the dispute questionnaire the member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA spoke to SKAI and the program SIMERA, Yannis Ragousis.
He initially clarified that “in no way do we oppose the president of our party” while he then explained that the reaction to the questionnaire was as this initiative was taken shortly before the conference, while he emphasized that in his opinion “it is good that the questionnaire exists , but not at the right timing”.

“We are on the eve of the congress which is our last chance to make a big recovery counterattack to avoid the bad scenarios that are also recorded in the polls,” he said and added: “Unfortunately we also got involved in discussions about whether there should be a questionnaire or not on the eve of the conference, I personally believe that the questionnaire exists and we must activate the members in every way, but of course also publish the results. I do not agree with Mr. Kasselakis about the moment he decided to do it. We cannot criminalize the intention of the leadership to discuss the name of the party. I remind you of Mr. Androulakis who held a referendum in his party for the name of PASOK”.
“Today we are on the front page of many media, this is not a choice of any of us, if the decision on the questionnaire had not been made shortly before the conference and if we had not received such a letter yesterday, we would not be on 7 front pages of negative publicity for us today. The conference is about the members, not the executives. Our meaning is not to dissolve the party, we all want to put our backs, we try to sanctify and it won’t let us“, he stated
Regarding the information on the motion of censure against Stefanos Kasselakis, Mr. Ragousis clarified that “There was never any question of a motion of censure.”
“The negative publicity did not come from us – from the political secretariat -, but from initiatives taken by the president and his associates.”
Regarding the course of the polls and the next day of the European elections, Mr. Ragousis notes: “The next day will not be easy, but we are not going into the next day with a negative result. Let’s go to win the battle with the best possible result, let’s go to keep the second place with the highest possible percentages”
