After Sandy Maendly, a second player from the Swiss team is ending her international career. Rahel Kiwic also made the decision, coach Nils Nielsen explained on Monday.
The 31-year-old central defender made her debut for the Swiss team in February 2012 against England. She scored 14 goals in 82 caps, including the 2-0 win against Portugal at the start of the group stage. A serious knee injury suffered at the end of 2019 had kept her away from the lawns for more than a year.
Rahel Kiwic is one of the players affected by gastroenteritis during this Euro, which had also forced her to give up the match against Sweden. The FC Zurich player came on in the 58th minute on Sunday in the 4-1 loss to the Netherlands.
