Rahul Dravid out for Asia Cup; BCCI announced VVS Laxman as interim coach

Mumbai: Rahul Dravid will not be the head coach of India in the Asia Cup matches. National Cricket Academy chief VVS Laxman has been appointed as the interim coach to replace Dravid, who is suffering from Covid-19. BCCI itself informed this through a press release.

VVS Laxman was in charge of the team during the Zimbabwe tour. Dravid will join the team as soon as he gets the clearance certificate from the BCCI medical team once he tests negative for Covid. VVS Laxman is currently with the Indian team training in Dubai ahead of the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, the Parishilaka team that accompanied Laxman on the Zimbabwe tour has returned home. Dravid’s team will work with Laxman. Even when the Indian team toured Ireland, VVS Laxman was the coach.
