After 172 days, NFL football is finally back. The 2022 season kicked off with a the annual Hall of Fame Game showdown between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders. It may be the preseason, but the Raiders were in midseason form at the start of Thursday night’s game. Las Vegas scored on its first three drives to take a 20-0 halftime lead.

Ahead 6-0, the Raiders scored the season’s first touchdown on Ameer Abdullah’s eight-yard touchdown less than two minutes into the second quarter. Las Vegas capped off its stellar first half when Jarrett Stidham scored on a 12-yard run with 1:34 left until halftime.

Among the Raiders’ big early standouts was rookie running back Zamir White, who gained 37 yards on seven carries to go with 27 yards on two catches. The Jaguars’ top performer during the first half was Arden Key, who tallied two sacks against his former team.

Thursday night’s game is the start of new eras for both clubs. New Jaguars coach Doug Pederson is hoping to make similar magic in Jacksonville after helping deliver the first Lombardi Trophy to Philadelphia five years ago. Looking to make a similar impact in Las Vegas is Josh McDaniels, who joins the Raiders following a highly-successful run with the New England Patriots.
