Rain lowers gas prices

Everything increases, except gasoline or almost. Consumers have noticed a drop in oil prices in Switzerland. In the Bernese Jura, the liter of unleaded 95 has gone from just over 2 francs to around 1 franc 80 in recent weeks. The peak had also been reached in March with a price of around 2 francs 20 for a litre.

This drop, which occurs during a period of inflation, is surprising, but it is partly explained by the drop in the price of transport. In fact, the heavy rainfall observed recently has raised the level of the Rhine and made it possible to improve freight capacity while lowering its price.

However, the evolution of prices at the pump remains very uncertain, especially since the members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) should certainly announce a reduction in production this week. This is due to fears of slowing demand.

Ultimately, this fall which smiles on the consumer is not likely to last according to the players in the branch.
