Major General Mahmoud Nafie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Sanitation Company, said that levels of preparedness have been raised with the deployment of cars and suits starting last Tuesday until the weather turmoil stabilizes.
He stressed the continuation of disinfection work for the containers and hangers, emptying the tanks of the lifting stations, stopping vacations and rest allowances, and the presence of all officials of the relevant sectors around the clock.
He pointed out the preparation for continued rains, according to the Meteorological Authority’s statement that areas of Alexandria Governorate are expected to witness light to moderate rains at intermittent intervals today, Thursday, with an incidence of approximately 50%.
He explained that 150 cars and equipment are ready and stationed throughout the governorate to deal with rainwater accumulations as soon as they occur, and to intensify disinfection work, especially in areas that witness rain, and to convene an operations room to deal with rain continuously, 24 hours a day, to respond to citizens’ reports, and in full coordination with the company’s operations room.
