Thiruvananthapuram: In view of the continuing threat of rain in the state, the district collectors have declared a holiday for educational institutions in various districts today. A complete holiday has been declared in 9 districts while in some districts, holidays have been given on taluk basis. A complete holiday has been announced for educational institutions in Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kannur districts.
The decision was taken in the backdrop of the weather department’s warning that heavy rains will continue in these districts. A holiday has also been declared in some taluks of Malappuram and Kasaragod districts. Only Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kozhikode districts have not announced any kind of holiday. The District Collector has informed that the campaign that declared a complete holiday in Malappuram district is fake.
Notification of Alappuzha Collector
Today will be a holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges and Anganwadis in Alappuzha district.
Notification of the Collector of Pathanamthitta
All educational institutes from Anganwadi to Professional Colleges in Pathanamthitta district will be closed today as the severe rain warning is in place and heavy rains will continue. However, the Collector has also clarified that there will be no change in the university examinations as per earlier schedule.
Kottayam Collector’s Notice
All educational institutions including professional colleges and Anganwadis in Kottayam district will be closed today.
Notification of Idukki Collector
Educational institutions including professional colleges in Idukki district will also be closed today. Pre-scheduled tests and interviews will remain unchanged. But the Collector has also suggested that the heads of the educational institutions should take steps to adjust the study time lost by the students due to the vacation.
Notification of Ernakulam Collector
A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions including professional colleges in Ernakulam district today.
Notification of Thrissur Collector
In the event of continued rain, educational institutions including Anganwadis in the district from nursery level to professional colleges will be closed today. The Collector has also clarified that there will be no change in the exams.
Notification of Palakkad Collector
All educational institutions including professional colleges and Anganwadis in Palakkad district will be closed today. The Collector has also clarified that the holiday will not apply to the activities of model residential schools in the district and pre-scheduled examinations.
Notification of Wayanad Collector
District Collector will be holiday today for all educational institutions including professional colleges in Wayanad district. The collector has also clarified that the holiday is not applicable to residential schools.
Notification of Kannur Collector
Today will be a holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges in Kannur district. The Collector has also clarified that the holiday will not apply to pre-scheduled university examinations.
Notification of Malappuram Collector
District Collector VR Premkumar today declared holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges, Anganwadis and tuition centers in Nilambur and Ernad taluks due to continued heavy rains. Pre-scheduled tests and interviews remain unchanged. Holiday is not applicable for residential schools.
Notification of Collector of Kasaragod
District Collector Bhandari Swagat Ranveerchand informed that all educational institutions including professional colleges and Anganwadis in Hosdurg and Vellarikund taluks of Kasaragod district will be closed today due to continued heavy rains. He also instructed the heads of educational institutions to take steps to adjust the study time lost due to vacation.
