Rains will continue in Kerala for next five days; Yellow alert in various districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The meteorological department has warned of isolated thundershowers in Kerala till May 25. Central Meteorological Department issues yellow alert in various districts:

May 21: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad
May 22: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur

The possibility of isolated heavy rains is forecast. Heavy rainfall is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Fisherman vigilance instruction

Fishing is not allowed on the coasts of Kerala and Karnataka. The coast of Lakshadweep is uninterrupted. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph along the northern and southern coasts of Kerala on May 21 and 23. Do not go fishing in these places.

Special caution instructions

From May 21 to 25, strong winds and strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph are expected in the North Andaman Sea, the adjoining Middle East Bay and the Bay of Bengal.

Strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph and in some places up to 60 kmph are possible in the Middle East and Southwest Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to go fishing in the above areas and on dates.
