The SAF association (fetal alcohol syndrome), the union of trades and hotel industries as well as Dr Denis Lamblin, were in Limoges on Tuesday August 29 on the occasion of their tour of France. 14 cities in France are concerned, the objective, to raise awareness and prevent the risks of alcohol on children.

Fetal alcohol syndrome can contribute to more than 400 diseases for the child.

“It’s catastrophic, these diseases, we can avoid them. We have to do prevention, we have to explain what the risks are and how to avoid them.”

The association seeks, at the national level, to convey a message. For this, it is increasing its awareness-raising operations in France.

In New Aquitaine

A study was conducted by Opinion Way, on the knowledge and behavior of parents of children under 3 years old. The results of this regional survey are not good. Each year, more than 1,000 children are diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Disorder. This figure represents 2% of births in the region.

This year, in New Aquitaine, 24% of pregnant women say they have consumed alcohol. Of which 11% claim to have drunk at least once a month, 5% once a week. “These figures must decrease, for the well-being of future generations, but also to respect the rights of children, insists Denis Lamblin. These diseases that they develop cause social injustice, discomfort. Babies must be born equal. ”

Operation “yellow tables”

SAF France is also mobilizing in mid-November, with the “Yellow tables” operation, i.e. dozens of restaurants, hotels, bars which will support the cause, in France and in Limousin, on the occasion of International Human Rights Day. child, November 20. Voluntary establishments will receive accessories and yellow T-shirts to raise awareness among their customers and give visibility to the association. 172 participated in the previous edition.
