A win in the landmark division duel would not only be a clear pointer to the rest of the league, but would also bring the Cards a big step closer to the Super Bowl dream. You can find out whether we trust them to defeat the reigning champion and what other predictions we are making for this game in our Cardinals vs. Rams tip.

Cardinals Form & Record Check

Arizona was just able to avert an unsuccessful start to the season last Sunday. After the Cardinals got under the wheels at home against the Kansas City Chiefs (21:44) in week one, there were many indications of a defeat in the second game against the Las Vegas Raiders as well. Nine minutes before the end of the game, the Cards were still 7:23 behind. With 16 unanswered points, however, they saved themselves in a furious finish in extra time, where they converted the first ball possession into a touchdown and won 29:23.

Cardinal’s nemesis

The outstanding final minutes against the Raiders give all Cardinals fans high hopes for the game against the Rams. There hasn’t been much up for Arizona in this duel in recent years. The Cards have only won one of their last eleven encounters. At home, they even lost seven times in a row against their division rivals.

Cardinal Facts & Analysis

  • Offensive: Achieve an average of 347.5 yards gain (16th place in the league comparison) and 25.0 points (10th place)
  • Defensive: Allows an average of 406 yards gain (28th place) and 35.5 points (32nd place).
  • Quar

We’re confident the Cardinals will have their first home win against the Rams since 2014. The comeback win against the Raiders should provide plenty of momentum in Arizona. Although the Rams also won their last game, they only defeated the weak Atlanta Falcons (31:27). The Cards proved they can beat LA last season when they defeated the Rams for the first time since 2017 after eight consecutive losses.

Rams Form & Bilanz Check

As the reigning champion, Los Angeles is of course one of the big favorites again this year. If the Rams really want to defend their title, they have to improve in the coming games. In the opening game of the new season, they were inferior to the Buffalo Bills (10:31) two weeks ago without a chance. And they also revealed weaknesses in the victory over the Atlanta Falcons (31:27). One of them is currently quarterback Matthew Stafford. So far this season, the 34-year-old has thrown more interceptions (5) than touchdown passes (4).

Cooper Kupp towers again

Cooper Kupp, on the other hand, played outstandingly again. Last season, the 28-year-old put in a season for the history books and the best by a wide receiver in many years. At the end of the regular season, he led the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and receiving touchdowns (16) and won the so-called “triple crown.” He then dominated the playoffs. In four postseason games, he had 478 receiving yards and six TDs. He was also voted Super Bowl MVP.

Hardly anyone believes Kupp can have a comparable season this year. But after two games, he’s back at 24 receptions, 236 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. If he can keep this average, he would surpass his last season again.

Rams Facts & Analysis

  • Offense: Achieved an average of 290 yards gain (26th place in the league comparison) and 20.5 points (14th place)
  • Defensive: Allows an average of 337 yards gain (16th place) and 29.0 points (28th place).
  • Quarterback: Matthew Stafford already with 5 interceptions (negative value of all NFL quarterbacks)

We expect Cooper Kupp to continue his one-man show against Arizona. He has had at least 95 receiving yards in each of his last 14 regular season games. He only went under 100 receiving yards three times during that period. We’re guessing Kupp has at least 98 receiving yards against the Cardinals.
