French soccer star Benjamin Mendy is on trial in Britain today on rape allegations. The Manchester City defender, who was suspended by his club over the allegations, is facing charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a total of seven women in Chester, north-west England.
Mendy faces eight counts of rape, one sexual assault and one attempted rape. All incidents are believed to have taken place between October 2018 and August 2021 at his home in Prestbury, near Macclesfield. The 28-year-old former international denies all allegations.
Mendy had already pleaded not guilty to nine counts in May. At the beginning of the trial, he denied another rape allegation that had been added since the preliminary hearing.
