A Ferrari was sold at auction for US$1.9 million (C$2.5 million) in California despite its poor condition.

It is a “Ferrari Mondial Spider series” dating from 1954, reports CNN.

These automobiles were notably used for Formula 2 competition, which was considered the most prestigious competition in the early 1950s.

The car in question was driven by Italian driver Franco Cortese.

This is one of 13 units of this model produced by Ferrari.

Its design is similar to the Ferrari cars that won the World Championship in 1952 and 1953.
