On the occasion of the 15th edition of the International Rare Disease Day, we take stock of these diseases that affect children and adults alike.

There are nearly 9,000 rare diseases and in France, three million people suffer from them. For patients, their families and loved ones, care can be like an obstacle course, which begins long before the diagnosis is made. Despite access to orphan drugs and active research in this area, most of these rare conditions do not benefit from a cure. Are there specialized centers? When is prenatal diagnosis possible?
