On December 28, local time, as temperatures rose following heavy rain and snow, the water level of the Danube River flowing through Budapest, the capital of Hungary, surged, triggering rare winter floods in the city and flooding many places along the river. The benches by the river are completely surrounded by water, and part of the pier is also covered by the rising river water.

Community workers are laying wooden planks in areas with deep water to facilitate residents’ passage, and relevant agencies are also building flood barriers to prevent floods from further invading surrounding buildings.

The Hungarian National Water Conservancy Administration stated that the Danube River water level reached a 10-year peak of 6.93 meters on the evening of the 28th, only lower than the 8.91 meters recorded in May 2013. (Produced by Ma Yuxuan)
