The Pi 5 is capable of driving two 4K60 displays simultaneously via HDMI and additionally supports dual-band 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. There is also a microSD card interface with SDR104 support, two USB 3.0 ports supporting simultaneous operation at 5 Gbps, two USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet jack and even a PCIe 2.0 x1 interface for connecting fast storage .
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is breaking with tradition by announcing its new flagship product before its launch – only the second time it has approached the release of a new product this way. Liz Upton, executive director of communications at the Raspberry Pi Foundation, said she believed an advance announcement would give more people the opportunity to get their hands on a Pi 5 on day one.
The Raspberry Pi 5 comes in two flavors: the 4GB model is priced at $60, and an 8GB variant will cost you $80. They are available for pre-order now from local authorized retailers and will begin shipping in late October.
