Later, the school claimed that it was a duck neck, but some experts deduced from the video that it was the head of a rat animal. A joint investigation team composed of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Public Security Department, Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and Provincial Market Supervision and Administration Bureau recently conducted an investigation into the incident. On the 17th, the joint investigation team announced that the foreign object was “the head of a rat-like rodent.”

The announcement by the authorities stated that after the joint investigation team inspected the scene and retrieved surveillance video, it was found that on June 1, the students ate a foreign object suspected to be a “rat head” in the cafeteria, which was discarded by the cafeteria staff involved on the day of the incident. By viewing the video of the kitchen in the canteen, consulting the purchase list, asking the person in charge of the canteen involved, the parties involved in the kitchen, the students involved, and the onlookers at the scene, etc., it was determined that the foreign object was not a duck neck. According to domestic authoritative animal experts’ professional identification of the extracted on-site photos and videos taken by the students involved, it was determined that the foreign object was the head of a mouse-like rodent. Nanchang High-tech Zone Market Supervision Bureau Changdong Branch and Jiangxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College did not investigate and collect evidence seriously, and it was wrong to issue the conclusion that “foreign objects are duck necks”.
