Genk won at Seraing (0-2) on the 34th day of the Jupiler Pro League and at the same time secured his eighth place synonymous with Playoffs 2.

Racing Genk did not start the game well against Seraing. The home side even had the best chances until Dabila was shown the red card. Ito allowed the runners-up to open the scoring before the break. In the second half, Storck decided to bring Thorstvedt onto the pitch. It turned out to be a good decision.
“Before the season, we were aiming higher than Playoffs 2, but we’re still happy we got there. That’s just the situation we’re in,” Kristian Thorstvedt said after the game.
“At the end I scored the second goal, but I’m also happy for Maarten Vandevoordt, who made a clean sheet. Now we find ourselves in a difficult group with Ghent, Mechelen and Charleroi, but I prefer to play a few more games than already being on vacation”, he concludes with a smile.
