While the CGT has filed a strike notice for a period of seven months, the CEO of the RATP asked users not to be “impressed by the duration” of it.
“Don’t let the length of notice put you off.” The CEO of RATP, Jean Castex, and the president of Île-de-France Mobilités, Valérie Pécresse, reacted this Monday, January 29 to the strike notice filed by the CGT of the Paris transport authority from Monday, February 5 and for a period of seven months.
“When we file a strike notice, it is in fact to put pressure. It is not the first nor the last. We are used to it,” assured Jean Castex, calling for “not to be impressed by the duration of this notice”.
With this strike notice, the union intends to express its “disagreement” with RATP management regarding compulsory annual salary negotiations (NAO).
“These discussions are continuing, it is undoubtedly to influence these negotiations that this notice was submitted,” said the former Prime Minister.
According to him, management is discussing “actively” with the unions on this subject and plans to reach an agreement “in the coming weeks”, “in February”.
The CGT also shared its disagreement with management in discussions on possible bonuses during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. A subject which must be resolved after salary negotiations, according to Jean Castex.
“I trust them”
As for Valérie Pécresse, she said she “trusted” the RATP and the SNCF to “work on the working conditions” of the agents at the time of the Olympics, but also “trusted” the latter to “be up to the task of the event”.
“I don’t think they can fail to feel the honor done to us collectively, to us France, to us Île-de-France to host these Games and they must show the best of them- ourselves, as we must show the best of ourselves. So, I also trust them to be up to the occasion,” added the president of Île-de-France Mobilités.
