Ray tracing removed from Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes

Capcom releases remake patch Resident Evil 2 and 3, which removed the ability to use ray tracing technology. Reddit users noticed this.

Remakes of the second and third parts of Resident Evil received large-scale updates in June 2022 – then the developers added support for DirectX version 12, ray tracing and other features, as well as increased system requirements. A new patch dated April 14, 2023 removed the ability to enable ray tracing. The reason for this change is unknown – the developers did not make an official announcement.

Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes were released in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The games are available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
