Real Madrid reassign numbers 7 and 11
MADRID. Karim Benzema is gone, Eden Hazard is gone, Marco Asensio is gone. And what about their shirt numbers at Real Madrid? Hazard’s 7 and Asensio’s 11 are already clear: Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes receive. The 7 goes to Vinícius, the 11 to Rodrygo. This can be seen from the squad overview on the Royal website since Monday afternoon.
Vinícius was only asked in mid-April whether he would want to take over the number that legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raúl or Juanito had already worn. “I don’t know, I haven’t thought of that. I always think about doing my job well. I don’t care that much about the number”said the 22-year-old.
Fourth real numbers for Vinícius and Rodrygo

In LaLiga, the numbers from 1 to 25 must be assigned to the officially registered professionals, numbers above are only allowed for youth players. And: According to the statutes, the Spanish football association RFEF ideally likes the 25 to be assigned to a goalkeeper. In the case of numbers 1 and 13, this is mandatory on the Iberian Peninsula. For example, if there are only two goalkeepers in the squad, as with Real, then the 25 can also be worn by a field player as an exception.
However, as soon as the next opportunity arises to exchange them for a lower number, that should also happen. Accordingly, the 25 was only owned by Vinícius (2019/20), Rodrygo (2020/21) or Eduardo Camavinga (2021/22) for about one season.
