After the case of the four Real Madrid youth players, investigated for alleged involvement in the dissemination of a video with sexual content on September 14, became publicly known, one of the victims of that episode broke the silence to tell what happened that day.

The 18-year-old spoke to the Madrid newspaper As and stated in an extensive interview that from the moment the recording began to go viral, her life has changed completely: “Now I need a psychologist, more than anything, help from “A qualified person to support me and deal with this issue because I don’t know how to handle it alone.”
Sofía, as she called herself to maintain anonymity, explained what it was like on June 15, when the merengue soccer players turned on the camera to portray what was happening in the room. “My two friends and I had been invited to spend the day at the Amadores Beach Club. We arrived around three in the afternoon and everything was going well. They were eating and having a normal vacation routine while we were at the pool in that booth. Basically, we were in the private pool and the hours went by. They were ordering drinks and everything was going well, everyone was on their own, talking. After a while ‘things’ start to happen. At one point, my underage friend and I entered the space that has curtains and we started the typical games of these ages, nonsense,” she said.

“At a given moment, something happens with my friend, which is what is appearing in the news and it is also true (consensual relationships). I was flirting with another of the players. A third friend with the other footballer. A small room that stays outside, in the general pool. They had nothing to do with what happened. At one point, during the events, I observed how one of the boys recorded my friend. First I saw the cell phone and when I looked away I observed how that cell phone was passed to another of the players, as if from one hand to another,” she continued.
“It’s true that I don’t know if they were recording at that given moment, but I do know that when we went out after all that happened, the three of us friends talked and we told each other that we thought they had recorded us. While we were talking, one of the footballers, who has been very supportive, told us that he was going to tell them off. He insisted to them that recording two people without his consent was not okay. Surely, at the time when the three of us were arguing, they would have shared the video on Instagram or Whatsapp,” he considered.

After talking to the players, Sofía assured that she saw how they deleted the videos (they had recorded at least five) from the mobile phone. However, by the time they did it, they had already sent it to other people: “They lied to us. They claimed that the videos had already been deleted, but when we spoke to each other they had already been transferred to other mobile phones.”
“It is one thing for me, at a moment, to say that I don’t care if they record me and another to broadcast an intimate video of me and my friend. That is not right. Because? It is a mistake that they have made, they are entirely to blame, because they have recorded and spread it. Nobody is going to make me feel bad for telling me that I let myself be recorded, that I’m a whore or that my friend is there as a minor. She passed and they are to blame. There is no more,” she reflected.

Although the 18-year-old girl stressed that the relationships were consensual, what she would never have allowed was to accept a recording and the subsequent dissemination of the video. “At first I saw that cell phone, but I wasn’t aware, I didn’t react. Maybe it was something in my head… Then I noticed that one of them had hidden the phone and then gave it to another. But neither my friend nor I knew how to react or stop and say that this was not right. Later, when everything was over, we did talk to them,” she added.
After that episode, Sofía acknowledged that she continued speaking with two of them for a while longer, but that since it became public she has not received messages: “I have no news from them. The day I found out and mentioned this to our friend, I spoke to one of them, who is who my friend was with, telling him that I found out that this video had been circulating but that I hoped it was a lie because it is something reportable and, In addition, a minor appears.”
“He decided, I don’t know if by himself or at the club’s direction, to block me on Instagram. I don’t know anything about him or any of the other three boys. I spoke to one of them in a good manner to ask him to tell me if he had the video because the content was reportable. Just when he was going to testify as a witness, I was going to show the judicial civil guard his photo, and then I saw that he had blocked me from everything,” he commented.
“I don’t know for sure what is going to happen. From what they have told me, they are going to be kicked off the team. But what I want is for justice to be done, for the measures to be taken that have to be taken with the law in hand. And that people are aware that it is not something that happens only with footballers but with many people. But they are cases that do not come to light,” he clarified.
“I think they feel so protected because they are in big teams, or in categories where they have security and protection. So, they say, ‘I don’t care about doing this. I am protected. No matter what happens, if I have money I have lawyers and I buy whatever I want.’ When these kids find themselves in this situation, the team could give them everything. They don’t care if they do this today or tomorrow. I don’t want to say that they are all like that, but unfortunately there are some like that,” he lamented.
Finally, the 18-year-old girl acknowledged that after what happened, she needs help from a psychologist: “My life has not been very easy and now I need, more than anything, help from a qualified person to support me and deal with this issue because I cannot I know how to carry it alone. Although I have many people at my side who serve as psychologists, I need someone who is, literally, qualified.”
