Realme prepares to launch a smartphone based on MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset with 200-megapixel camera support

The news is that Chinese smartphone maker Realme will release a smartphone equipped with MediaTek’s latest mid-range 5G chipset ‘Dimensity 1080’.

According to foreign media on the 11th (local time), tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) said this through Twitter.

The ‘Dimensity 1080’ chipset is the successor model of the Dimensity 920. It is manufactured on the same TSMC 6-nano process, but the performance is improved by slightly increasing the clock. In particular, it is possible to process image data of up to 200 million pixels (200MP) sensor even though it is a mid-range chipset.

Until now, Samsung’s 200-megapixel sensor was installed only in flagship products, but it is expected to be seen in mid-range smartphones in the future. However, Tipster did not mention information regarding the name of the Realme product that will be equipped with the Dimensity 1080 chip.

As MediaTek announced that a new smartphone equipped with the Dimensity 1080 chipset will be released in the fourth quarter, there is a possibility that Realme products will be released in November or December.
