German automaker BMW has just released recall information for more than 20,000 BMW X1, iX and iX1 vehicles that are being recalled globally due to problems with the safety airbag system.

The latest announcement from the German automaker said that a total of 20,100 BMW vehicles are affected by the new global recall, including X1, iX and iX1 models. The recalled vehicles were manufactured from June 30, 2020 to February 2, 2023 at the factory in Germany due to a safety airbag defect.

The cause of this recall is related to the manufacturing process of the airbag system when it is not folded properly. In some accidents, the airbag may deploy incorrectly, endangering the driver and passengers.

The remedy for this recall, offered by BMW, is to test and replace the airbag on affected vehicles first in the European market and will open to other markets around the world. Currently, distributor Thaco Truong Hai has not responded to this recall program.

In the Vietnamese market, the BMW X1 is sold through the distributor Thaco Truong Hai with only the sDrive18i xLine version, with a selling price of 1.86 billion VND. Compared to competitors in the same segment such as Audi Q3 (VND 1.8 billion) and Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 (VND 1.86 billion), the selling price is about the same.

X1 sDrive18i xLine uses a 1.5L in-line twin turbo 3 cylinder engine, producing 140 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque. Comes with a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive.
